800 Years Old Artifact Inherited
An artifact believed to be a "supernatural object" belong to an Iban warrior "Mata'ari" a well-known leader of the Iban community in Borneo, an ethnic tribe also commonly known as "head hunters". The artifact is called "Rajut" has been in the family for more than ten generation and it is used for protection giving supernatural protections and power to the owner and beholder. Hundreds of skulls or heads were said to be the captured and killed but only few prominent leaders "heads" are still with the family. Originated in batang Kapuas, Batang Ai, Sarawak, Mata'ari made an expidition with hundreds of his followers to Batang Rajang and Batang Baleh and up to Ulu Singut, the utmost part of baleh river near the Indonesia Sarawak border.

Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque-Brunei Darussalam-Borneo
Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque is one of the most spectacular mosques in Asia Pacific and is a magnificent sight. Named after the 28th Sultan of Brunei, the mosque, which is seen as a symbol of the Islamic faith in Brunei, dominates the skyline in the capital city, Bandar Seri Begawan. The golden dome of the mosque stands at 52m (171ft) high and can be seen from virtually anywhere in the city. The building was completed in 1958 and is an impressive example of Islamic architecture, with magnificent mosaic stained glass, as well as many arches, domes and columns. Marble from Italy, granite from Shanghai and chandeliers from England were all used in the construction of Brunei's most ornate building.

Twin Mix Postcards Project
People come to the Sunday's night market joining Twin Mix Postcards Project; the mini art event and exhibition of 12 art works by 24 designers. The concept of this project displays with the multiculturalism in Thailand. All 12 designs will be published into postcard (2000 set limited edition) and distributed at every branch of Wawee Coffee and on website. The original artworks will be on auction and part of proceedings goes to charities.

Pesta Kaamatan-Harvest Festival 2008
26 - 27 April 2008Most native Sabahans consider rice to be more important than just the main staple food. There is a certain sacredness attached to it, for it is a food given to them by Kinoingan, the Almighty Creator so that his people should never want for food. He sacrificed His only daughter- Huminodun and from her body parts, padi (rice) grew. This was Kinoingan's ultimate act of benevolence and to this day, His people repay the deed by conducting various ceremonies to honour Bambaazon, the spirit of Huminodun as embodied in rice.
The most well-known of these is Pesta Kaamatan or Harvest Festival which begins on the first of May and celebrated throughout Sabah. Of major importance to this thanksgiving ceremony is the Magavau - a ritual to invite Bambaazon to the Pesta and is conducted only by the Bobohizan or high priestess. Festivities cannot proceed without the presence of Bambaazon and it is through Magavau that the Rice Spirit is invoked.

The Sabah East Coast Bajau community has a unique lifestyle. In their dialect, lepa means "boat". The lepa is usually made of Ubar Suluk or Red Seraya wood. The lepa is a cultural legacy inherited by the people from many generations ago. The existence of lepa is believed to originate from the fishing community who live in Bum Bum Island and used by the Pa'alau people along the coast of Semporna.
The Regatta Lepa has been celebrated every year since 1994 to commemorate the Bajau tradition of building these splendid boats. Semporna comes to life as the colourful sails take to the sea to compete for the prize of the most beautiful lepa. This is judged based on its decoration, local ethnic music and dances performed on board, sambulayang (sails) and tapis-tapis (small flags).
Visit Semporna and witness this spectacular annual event of the Bajau community in Sabah!
